#AtoZChallenge: M is for Mustang Boss 429 FastbackWritten by Dawn Ius
There’s still five and a half months before my YA novel OVERDRIVE drops—but I couldn’t pass up the chance to spend a month talking about it.
Fast cars, cute guys, a kick-ass protagonist, and the hot Vegas sun—OVERDRIVE is a culmination of all my favorite things. Which is why for this year’s blogging challenge, I am doing the A to Z of OVERDRIVE. (I know, you're shocked!)
Not familiar with the A to Z Blogging Challenge? Get the full details here. And then buckle up because you’re in for one hell of a fun ride.
P.S. Comment on or share the posts throughout the month for a chance to WIN an advanced reader copy of OVERDRIVE!

The title of this post is very specific—and for good reason. Aside from the 1967 Shelby GT500 (aka: Eleanor), very few Mustangs catch my eye. No question I'd drive this one though: the 1969 Mustang Boss 429 Fastback.
In OVERDRIVE, this beautiful pony belongs to Nick Barker. Or, it did. Does. It's kind of confusing ;-) Nick named her Vikki, after his...well, that's kind of a spoiler too. *zips mouth*
Nick is like the Wikepedia of car facts, particularly when it comes to Mustangs. While few can turn my head—the new ones just don't have the same vibe as these classic models—I recognize it's one of the most popular "muscle" cars on the market. So, a few fun Mustang facts to get your engines fired up this Friday.
- The first Mustang was introduced to the public on April 17, 1964 at the New York World's Fair.
- The Mustang came in three body types: Coupe, Convertible, and Fastback.
- Mustangs have landed starring roles in many TV shows and movies—from James Bond vehicles to Steve McQueen's Bullit, and more than 3,000 others.
- The white convertible Mustang was the first to come off the assembly line.
- The Mustang Mach I was introduced in 1967.
You'll want to bone up on these and other Mustang facts if you want to catch Nick's attention...just saying.
The #AtoZChallenge is half over—and I'll be back tomorrow with my "N" post. But, I'll probably be as suprised as you to know what it is. o.O
